- Susie Reynolds, Author -
Susie was born and educated in Norwich. After completing degree studies and qualifying as a teacher she has worked in education throughout Norfolk and latterly in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Rutland and Northamptonshire. Now residing in Norfolk again, Susie has her own specialist assessment business and works for various institutions across the East of England on a freelance basis.
Susie’s love of writing emerged at an early age. In penning the Little Bird Books, she is fulfilling a lifetime’s ambition: to write stories for children that reflect her deep love of nature and of native flora and fauna. Through the character of Little Bird there are always new places to visit, interesting things to learn, charming characters to meet and valuable lessons to be learned.
In her spare time Susie enjoys looking after her eight cats, one dog and disabled fieldmouse, as well as reading, gardening, walking, watching history/archaeology/nature documentaries, crafting and following her beloved Norwich City F.C.
-Sylvia Dan, Illustrator -
Joanne Kenny is originally from Yorkshire. Illustrating the Little Bird books as Sylvia Dan, in honour of her late parents Sylvia and Dan Docherty, Joanne first studied Glass and Ceramics at Sunderland University before working as a glass maker in studios abroad and in the UK.
Whilst living and working in London, Joanne qualified as a teacher and for many years enjoyed London life while juggling two careers as a teacher and glassmaker.
Losing most work and being denied financial support during the COVID pandemic, Joanne returned to Yorkshire to explore new work opportunities whilst enjoying a more rural lifestyle once more.
Teaming up with Little Bird’s creator Susie, after meeting via the Excluded UK group in 2019, Joanne delightfully depicts Little Bird’s enthusiasm for life, learning and joy in simple pleasures through her beautiful and charming illustrations.
